Faculty and alumni of the Department of Social Work gathered at the Wine Loft in Birmingham for a celebration of their professional and academic accomplishments over the past year. The addition of the Masters of Social Work degree was a particular point of pride. Dr. David Pollio, chair of the department, spoke to the group, as did Chris Walker, who will be retiring from her full-time position as the BSW Field Director. Alumni, many of whom are social workers in the Birmingham area, were able to visit with their former academic mentors and share updates on their careers. It was a fun way to connect, to commemorate a successful year for the department, and to honor Walker for her tremendous contributions to the department.
