Reginald Jackson joins the UAB faculty as a highly accomplished music educator, speaker and performer from Madison, Alabama. Jackson’s dynamic delivery and broad knowledge-base continuously creates global opportunities for him to venture throughout the world — bringing him before audiences in Turkey, France, Japan and the continental United states, teaching gospel keyboard improvisation and gospel vocal techniques.

Jackson’s wealth of experience as an accomplished and multifaceted music educator offers performances on the soprano and alto saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano and Hammond B-3 organ. Additionally, he has proficiency in pedagogical tips for playing by ear, Gospel music pedagogy, relevant aural and oral practices, and performance styles of sacred music.

Jackson is the author of four music books and DVD training videos designed to teach a systematic approach to learning keyboard chord patterns and improvisational techniques to play by ear.

As an advocate of the music and arts, he continues to participate at the civic and community levels by lending his skills and time to performances in local venues such as: the Decatur City Schools All-City Musical Festival, the “Concerts by the River” series for the Cities of Decatur & Madison, Alabama and as a regular performer at Bridgestreet Towncentre for the City of Madison, Alabama and continues to be a crowd favorite. In 2012, Dr. Jackson was bestowed the honor of being hailed 1st Place Winner of “ The Homegrown Talent Competition” in Huntsville, Al as part of the Panoply of Arts Festival. He works at the state level and continues membership with the Music Educator’s National Conference and the National Association of Jazz Educators.

Throughout Reginald’s career he has had the privilege of working with Gospel Recording Artist Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Bishop Marvin Sapp in a featured artist capacity and has been a featured performer with the Florida State Jazz Ensemble at the Orange Bowl. Jackson has also been on the faculty of The University of North Alabama, Alabama A and M University, Calhoun Community College, and Oakwood University.
