Lauren Goodwin Slaughter, well into her second decade teaching at UAB, has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her writing, including a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, and a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship from Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She is the author of the poetry collections, "Spectacle" (2022) and "a lesson in smallness" (2015). Her poetry, fiction, and essays have appeared in Image, Harvard Review, North American Review, Tupelo Quarterly, Pleiades, Kenyon Review Online, and 32 Poems among many other places. She is a member of the board of directors of the Alabama Writers Forum and also the Editor-in-Chief of NELLE, UAB's literary journal focused on women and their experiences.
