In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, UAB University Recreation invites you to join Walktober, a 30-Day Step Challenge running October 1–30. This free challenge is designed to help you move more, feel better, and connect with your community—one step at a time.

Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or looking for a little extra motivation, Walktober is a great way to build endurance, boost daily activity, and support your mental well-being. Each week will feature a new health-focused theme, and participants will compete for prize packages awarded to those with the highest step counts.

Open to all URec members and the UAB community, Walktober includes access to a free step counter app with a leaderboard and community features. Plus, modifications are available for those who prefer alternative forms of movement.
