Due to her dedication to financial integrity, collaborative leadership and student advocacy, Kiara Jones has been named the June Employee of the Month by the UAB Division of Student Affairs. In her role as Business Officer II and Insurance Coordinator in Student Health Services, Kiara oversees the department's budget and works closely with supervisors, healthcare providers and insurance partners to ensure the continued success of Student Health Services.

One of Kiara’s many outstanding accomplishments involved identifying discrepancies in student insurance billing processes. After reviewing more than 3,000 student accounts, she helped recover more than 95% of insurance overpayments and implemented safeguards to prevent future issues.

Beyond her financial responsibilities, Kiara is dedicated to educating students and families about health insurance and available resources. Colleagues praised her for her enthusiasm, accountability, attention to detail, and dedication to maintaining a sustainable and supportive work environment. Her collaborative spirit, integrity, and commitment to excellence continue to make her an invaluable member of the Student Health Services team.
