Do you want to understand your child's academic and emotional needs?
Recruiting Children Ages 11-14!
Are you a parent of a child between the ages of 11-14?
The UAB Science of Child Development and Neurodiversity Lab is recruiting participants for a study on socio-emotional competencies across diverse populations.
This study includes children who are typically developing or diagnosed with specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and/or ADHD.
What will your family do?
• Caregivers will have a 30-minute online meeting to review the study and sign consent forms.
• Caregivers will complete a 30-minute survey, and children will complete a 2-hour survey online.
• Children will also take part in a 1.5-hour online cognitive assessment.
After completing the study, families will receive:
• A resource guide with tips to improve socio-emotional skills.
• A score report providing insights into cognitive function and academic achievement.
• A $50 gift card upon study completion.

Do you have Type 2 Diabetes and have tried to Lose Weight?
Learn more about the CT-388-104 Study testing the safety and effectiveness of a selective GLP-1/GIP investigational drug for those living with overweight or obesity with type 2 diabetes.
You may be able to join the CT-388-104 Study if you:
- Are 18 through 75 years old
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or above
- Have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- Have tried to lose weight once or more through diet and exercise but without success
There are other requirements for taking part in this study. The study team will go over these with you.
If you qualify to join, you may receive at no cost:
- The investigational drug or placebo
- Close medical care and follow-up throughout the study
- Lifestyle management counseling

Do you have high blood pressure and a BMI over 30?
Participate in the PRECISION-BP research study investigating the best time to take blood pressure medication, morning or evening. This study participants will receive blood pressure medications for 28 days. Eligible participants must be obese (BMI: 30-45 kg/m2) men and women, have high blood pressure, and have no history of heart or kidney problems. The study involves wearing a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours, 24-hour inpatient visits at UAB Hospital, taking medications, and collecting blood and urine samples. Meals will be provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated $575 for completing the study visits. Eligible participants must be healthy adults (BMI less than 45 kg/m2) and have no history of diabetes, heart problems, or kidney problems. The study involves consuming prepared meals, performing exercise on a treadmill, undergoing a glucose test, and collecting blood, urine samples, and collection of genetic information. Are you a healthy African American between the ages of 18 and 60?
You may be eligible to participate in a research study looking at the effects of sacubitril/valsartan on how your body handles sugar. This medication is related to blood pressure and is safe to take with or without hypertension. Eligible participants must be healthy men and women, African American, and have no history of diabetes, heart disease or kidney problems. The study involves performing some exercise, taking sacubitril/valsartan, and collecting blood samples. Participants will be compensated $675 for completing all the visits. The UAB Office of Psychiatric Research is actively recruiting participants for an Adolescent Depression Study and wants to connect with you on our research! Whether you are needing someone to talk to, or even have no history of mental health conditions and are just wanting to further knowledge within the medical and mental health field, we would love to get you involved!
Our Adolescent Study is a Non-Treatment Study. Our Non-Treatment Studies do NOT involve testing a new medication or intervention. Instead, these studies focus on understanding behaviors and experiences of mental health conditions via interviews, tests, or surveys.
