University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Assistant Professor Felecia Brown, DNP, CNM, WHNP‐BC, PMHNP‐BC, CNE, has been named 2025 Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The ACNM Fellowship honors certified nurse-midwives whose contributions have significantly impacted the profession. Brown’s recognition by ACNM is a testament to her dedication to midwifery and nursing education.
“I am truly thrilled to receive this recognition,” Brown, who teaches in the School’s MSN Nurse Midwifery Pathway, said. “For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of caring for women and their families and raising awareness of important health issues. To be inducted into this college of powerful professionals, united in their dedication to excellence in health care, is humbling and inspiring. I am honored to stand among them.”
In addition to her national recognition, Brown was honored in February 2025 at the UAB School of Nursing's annual State of the School event for her exceptional contributions to nursing education. She was one of three recipients of the prestigious Daisy Foundation Extraordinary Nurse Educator Award, which celebrates nurse educators who inspire and nurture the next generation of nurses through unwavering dedication, collaborative spirit and exemplary leadership.
In September 2025, Brown was also named UABSON Graduate Clinical Preceptor of the Year which honors preceptors who exemplify the School’s core values through outstanding mentorship and dedication to student learning. The award highlights the vital role preceptors play in shaping future advanced practice nurses and celebrates their commitment to clinical education.
“Dr. Brown consistently goes above and beyond to ensure student success and embodies the spirit of excellence that defines our program,” said Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Clinical Education Aimee Holland, DNP, WHNP-BC, FNP-C, FAANP, FAAN.
Brown credits the School for shaping her professional journey.
“My time at UAB has afforded me invaluable opportunities for growth as an educator and clinician,” Brown shared. “Being honored with the faculty award and, more recently, the Preceptor of the Year Award, has been both humbling and inspiring. These recognitions affirm my commitment to academic excellence and motivate me to continue advancing high standards in teaching, precepting and mentorship.”
Through her leadership, teaching and advocacy, Brown continues to advance the mission of the School, leaving a lasting impact on students, colleagues and the broader nursing community.
