University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing clinical partners recognized many alumni for their nursing knowledge, technical skills, clinical leadership and mentorship during Nurses Week 2025. UAB Medicine and Children’s of Alabama honored a combined total of 51 UABSON alumni. UAB Medicine’s Clinical Excellence in Nursing Awards are the highest honor available for nursing staff within the UAB Health System.
Among the honorees was Associate Professor and Interim Assistant Dean for Graduate Clinical Education-DNP Tedra Smith, DNP, CRNP, CPNP‐PC, CNE, CHSE (MSN 2004, DNP 2011), who received the 2024 UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Instructor and Co-Coordinator of the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Alexandra Armstrong, MSN, CRNP, CPNP‐AC (MSN 2014), who received the Nursing Excellence Achievement Program Honorees Level II award.
