Cecilia Graham, Ph.D., is the first recipient of the Bergman/Pinkston Endowed Professorship in UAB’s Department of Physical Therapy. The professorship honors UAB professors emeritus Joan Bergman, who established Alabama’s first physical therapy program, and Dorothy Pinkston, a nationally recognized educator specializing in curriculum design, teaching and evaluation.
Graham, who directs UAB’s doctoral Science in Physical Therapy program, has more than 20 years experience in physical therapy education and has held leadership positions at several institutions. Her research focuses on teaching/learning processes and outcomes in physical therapy education.
A member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Graham is on the editorial board of the Journal of Physical Therapy Education and is an on-site team leader for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. She also holds leadership positions in the Alabama chapter of the APTA.
Graham earned her doctoral degree in adult education from Texas A&M University, master's degree in physical therapy from Emory University and bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She joined the physical therapy faculty at UAB in 2003 as an associate professor.
