Coral Lamartiniere, Ph.D., a professor in the UAB Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center senior scientist, recently received a $1.8-million grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to study the role environmental chemicals play in causing breast cancer.
The four-year grant will allow Lamartiniere to investigate how combinations of chemical exposures commonly reported early in life among humans can alter susceptibility to breast cancer, shedding light on understanding the complex role that environmental chemicals play in breast cancer causation and prevention.
