Now in its sixth year, the recognition program highlights partners with an innovative spirit and the determination to provide superior patient care in collaboration with Hicuity Health. UAB Medicine, selected among nominees from Hicuity Health’s more than 100 hospital and health systems partners, was recognized for its innovation, leadership and partnership in implementing a shared services model of tele-ICU care.
“We accept this WE SEE YOU CARE Award on behalf of our dedicated UAB eMedicine team members who have worked collaboratively with Hicuity Health to complete the implementation of our new on‑site telemedicine operations center and bring partnered, high-acuity telemedicine to our system,” said Reid Jones, CEO of UAB Medicine. “We are excited for what this provides to the patients we serve: robust tele-ICU care, the potential expansion of shared services to other service lines and the opportunity for our clinical teams to share in the delivery of telemedicine care.”
UAB Medicine was recognized in a ceremony July 28. The WE SEE YOU CARE Award was introduced by Hicuity Health in 2016 to acknowledge the exemplary efforts of bedside clinicians and team members from partner hospitals who are leveraging acute care telemedicine to improve how care is delivered for both patients and their families. The accolade is especially noteworthy this year given the frontline role that hospitals and their teams have played in caring for patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In 2020, Hicuity Health introduced its shared services model, developed to support the telemedicine aspirations of large systems that choose to wholly customize their telemedicine approach and engage their providers in a partnered telemedicine care delivery,” said Lou Silverman, CEO of Hicuity Health. “UAB Medicine is an early adopter and partner in utilizing this new approach, and their new Birmingham care center and their launch of tele-ICU care is testimony to their vision, dedication and success.”
In all, the 2021 WE SEE YOU CARE Awards honored 10 recipients for their individual, team and facility-wide dedication to patient care in collaboration with Hicuity Health.
