Gift of Sight is an annual event that provides vision care services to the underserved in Alabama. Apply today to receive free vision care services at the annual Gift of Sight, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry and UAB Eye Care, Dec. 1-5. The event will be held at the Jefferson County Western Health Center, located at 631 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, Alabama.
Gift of Sight is UAB Eye Care’s annual event that provides free comprehensive eye exams and glasses for underserved and underinsured patients who may otherwise not receive vision care services throughout the year.
“Gift of Sight is our largest giving event of the year, and we’re honored to offer free eye and vision care to our community,” said Janene Sims, O.D., Ph.D., professor and director of the UAB Community Eye Care, the community outreach arm of the school. “Routine eye exams can be life-changing because, as optometrists examine the health of the eye, answers to many questions about overall health are revealed. Our goal is to care for as many individuals in need as possible during the weeklong event; no one should go without the care they need.”
