In a time when people may feel overwhelmed by non-stop headlines, The Hub is designed to be a source of local programming with a focus on arts, culture and community. The Hub will have new and exciting public radio programming and will be an opportunity for WBHM to experiment with creating new local programming made for and by people in the heart of Alabama.

Listen locally by tuning in to 106.1 FM in the signal coverage area or WBHM’s HD-2 signal. The Hub is accessible worldwide via the latest version of WBHM’s free mobile app or on its website, wbhm.org. Click “Listen” and choose between WBHM and The Hub.

Programming will include a blend of several local shows and content from partners across the public radio network. The schedule for The Hub will change over time, with the goal to sustainably increase more locally produced content and options over time.

WBHM acquired the 106.1 FM signal when it became available in 2016. For many years, it simulcast the same schedule as that heard on 90.3 FM. Following the upgrade of WBHM’s transmitter in 2023, made possible by the support of listeners, plus many other technical improvements, WBHM now can broadcast on HD radio, which finally enables WBHM to provide separate programming on the 106.1 signal rather than just simulcasting.
