Fast 40The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s National Alumni Society will recognize 40 businesses, led by 47 alumni, with the inaugural Blazer Fast 40 award.

The award, formerly known as the UAB Excellence in Business Top 25 award, was created to identify, recognize and celebrate the success of alumni-owned or alumni-managed businesses. The new program awards more outstanding businesses and includes an awards-style celebration ceremony at the Hill Student Center on Friday, June 13. This will provide a better platform for networking, inspiration and celebration for Blazers.

Recipients of the 2025 Blazer Fast 40 awards are:

  • Uzma Ansari, DMD, founding partner of Guardian Dentistry Partners, graduate of the School of Dentistry.
  • Adam Arthur, executive vice president of Energy Transfer, graduate of the Collat School of Business.
  • Joshua Baker, principal owner and managing director of Baker Camp Arnold Capital Management, graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Quinn Bierman, owner and president of Air Hygiene, graduate of the School of Public Health.
  • Brennen Bowen, chief operating officer and chief commercial officer of Mizell Memorial Hospital, graduate of the School of Health Professions.
  • John Burdett, chief executive officer at Fast Slow Motion, graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Claude E. Camp III, owner of Interim Healthcare of Dothan, graduate of the School of Health Professions.

Criteria for the Blazer Fast 40 award includes the company being owned, managed or founded by a UAB graduate who serves on the most-senior leadership team, owned 50 percent or more of the company during the most recent eligible period, and have been in operation for a minimum of three years prior to Dec. 31, 2024.

Selection for Blazer 40 Fast is determined strictly on revenue growth information gathered during the application process. The NAS partnered with Warren Averett to rank and verify the nominated companies based on annual growth rate for the three most recent reporting periods.
