Pick out a costume and get ready for a not-so-spooky good time at the ArtPlay Halloween Bash, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at ArtPlay’s historic Johnson House, 1006 19th St. South.
ArtPlay’s Halloween Bash is perfect for little monsters of all ages, where they can enjoy music, dancing, sweet treats and hands-on art activities. ArtPlay Director Dane Peterson will read Julie Donaldson’s children’s book, “Room on the Broom,” illustrated by Axel Scheffler. This free family-friendly party is the place to be for Halloween fun, so bring the whole crew and kick off the fall festivities.
At the Halloween Bash, ArtPlay will announce its lineup of new arts classes for the winter term. Registration will be open for 14 engaging classes, including creative writing, public speaking, dance, textile arts, voice, acting, improvisation and playwriting.
Jingle all the way to ArtPlay’s Holiday Open House, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Celebrate the season with festive music and lights, art activities, a special reading of the holiday book “The Biggest Snowman Ever,” written by Steven Kroll and illustrated by Jeni Bassett, and a jolly visit from Santa himself. This free event is full of holiday cheer and creative fun for the whole family.
During the open house, ArtPlay’s Emerging Artists Performance Troupe will help announce the 2026 ArtPlay Musical Theatre camps for next summer, Peterson says.
“We are excited to announce that new summer camps for visual arts, creative writing, technical theater and musical theater are in the works,” Peterson said. “Plus, get ready for our spring break adventure, ‘ArtPlay’s NYC Arts and Culture Passport,’ which we will announce more information on soon.”
