Dr. Chrystal Rutledge is an Associate Professor in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care. She graduated from the UAB Heersink School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. After finishing her pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at UAB in 2014, she stayed on as faculty. Dr. Rutledge serves as the Vice Chair of Access & Engagement for the Department of Pediatrics, as well as the Associate Program Director of the UAB Pediatric Residency Program. She also holds simulation leadership roles, including Medical Co-Director of the Pediatric Simulation Center at Children’s of Alabama and Program Director of the Children’s of Alabama Community Healthcare Education Simulation (COACHES) Program. Her non-clinical activities focus on improving equitable healthcare for the children of Alabama through simulation education, access and engagement initiatives, and community outreach.
