Interests

Clinical

Dr. Burton's biggest clinical interest is point-of-care ultrasound, specifically hemodynamic, airway and lung ultrasound. He is also the medical director for the Children's CareFlight Critical Care Transport team and is focused on optimizing transport care by the excellent flight crews for critically ill children in Alabama and surrounding states. Additionally, he is interested in ICU liberation, right ventricular failure and clinical skill development.

Academic 

Dr. Burton is regular faculty for the Society of Critical Care Medicine Pediatric and Neonatal Point-of-Care Ultrasound Course. He is an active member of the PeRCCUS subgroup of PALISI. He is also interested in critical care education in global health and is a frequent contributor and member of Pediatric Critical Care in Resource Limited Settings (PCCiRLS).
