Bebin, who has served as co-chair for the past two years alongside Nina Schor, M.D., Ph.D., will assume the role in January 2026.

The ABPN is the certifying board for psychiatrists and neurologists who have met specific training and examination standards, ensuring the provider possesses the specialized skills necessary to effectively diagnose and treat patients.

“I am honored to assume the role of chair for this important ABPN committee,” Bebin said. “Being involved with the ABPN has been a valued aspect of my academic career, and I believe the continuing neurology certification process is an essential component for neurologists.”

As chair of the ABPN Child Neurology ABCC Committee, Bebin will oversee the exam development process and committee meetings and review the finalized exam questions with a focus on accuracy and relevance to clinical practice.

Since her pediatric and child neurology training at the Mayo Clinic, Bebin has dedicated her career to the clinical management and research of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). She founded and is the director of the UAB TSC Clinic, the largest of its kind in the Southeast, which integrates 26 subspecialties across UAB and Children’s of Alabama. Under her leadership, the clinic has earned designation as a TSC Center of Excellence by the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. Her research contributions include serving as the principal investigator for NIH-funded studies such as the PREVeNT Trial, which explored early intervention strategies for TSC infants at risk for seizures.

In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Bebin has made significant contributions to pediatric epilepsy treatment and research on rare diseases. She has led numerous clinical trials in pediatric antiepileptic drug development and directed Alabama’s Pediatric Expanded Access Program for Cannabidiol. Her collaborative work with the HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology and the UAB Department of Genetics has advanced whole-genome sequencing efforts for children with unexplained developmental delays and epilepsy.

Bebin also contributes nationally through her service on the Department of Defense’s CDMRPTSC grant review program, FDA’s Orphan Product Development Grant Review Panel and NIH NINC study section. Her academic appointments span neurology and pediatrics, and she holds board certification in child neurology, reflecting her deep commitment to improving outcomes for children with complex neurological conditions.
