The Graduation Questionnaire (GQ) is administered by the AAMC each year to fourth-year medical students prior to their completion of medical school. The questionnaire is a national survey with participation from 155 schools. The results are reviewed closely by Department of Medical Education leadership to determine areas of success and areas of improvement within our learning environment and student experience. As the 2026 questionnaire will soon be administered, below are some key points from the 2025 results. Listed percentiles are in comparison to participating schools.
2025 GQ At a Glance
- OVERALL: 95.5% satisfied with overall medical education (75th percentile)
- INTEGRATION: 90% were satisfied with integration in preclinical & clinical years (60th percentile)
- BASIC SCIENCES: 13/14 basic science areas rated above 50th percentile nationally, 12 of those areas at a three-year high
- CLERKSHIPS: 6/7 clerkships rated above 50th percentile nationally. Ratings of effective faculty teaching improved across all seven clerkships (clerkship results included here are averaged across on campuses)
- LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: Great improvements on awareness of mistreatment policy/procedures for mistreatment reporting (95th percentile)
- FACULTY PROFESSIONALISM: 14/14 professional behaviors were at a three-year high with 13 of them above 90th percentile
- FEEDBACK: Steady improvement in proportion of students receiving feedback, more work needed toward feedback quality
Looking ahead: The 2026 GQ will go out to students in February 2026 and results will come in later this year to contribute to the continuous improvement of Heersink School of Medicine.
