2025 Spring DOM STAR Awardee Lisa Forte Celebrates HonorThe Department of Medicine is proud to recognize Elizabeth “Lisa” Forte, MBA, as the recipient of the 2025 Spring DOM STAR Award for Staff Excellence. Lisa is a clinical research administrative manager for the STI Program in the Division of Infectious Diseases. In her role, Lisa is responsible for creating budgets, strategizing grant submissions, and overall program organization. Her team praises her for her meticulous nature and consideration. Williams Named Assistant Dean for Clinical Education

Win Williams, M.D., associate professor in GIMPOP, has been named Assistant Dean for Clinical Education for the Heersink School of Medicine. Williams will help establish and implement initiatives for collaborative, high quality, and coordinated clinical training for UAB medical students.

Kertesz Named 2025 Clinical Excellence Award Honoree

Stefan Kertesz, M.D., MSc, professor in GIMPOP, has been recognized as the 2025 Bucksbaum-Siegler Clinical Excellence Award recipient for his clinical excellence, compassionate care, and deep commitment to strengthening the doctor-patient relationship. Kertesz will be formally honored at BSI's annual symposium this fall.

ACC Names Prestigious Award in Honor of Nanda

The prestigious American College of Cardiology International Service Award has been renamed the Navin C. Nanda International Service Award to honor his contributions to cardiology and his dedication to advancing global cardiovascular care. Congrats, Dr. Nanda!

UAB Medicine Unveils New Unified Brand

On Wednesday, UAB Medicine unveiled a unified brand and logo system that brings together research, education, and clinical care efforts under one brand — UAB Medicine. With this change, the UAB Medicine brand will now encompass all aspects of the academic medical center, including the UAB Heersink School of Medicine and its departments, centers, institutes, and programs.
