For more than a decade, Daniels has been an integral member of the UAB STD Research Program. Colleagues admire his attention to detail, collaborative spirit and commitment to creating a positive, supportive work environment.

Daniels oversees multiple aspects of the grant and research submission process, from developing study protocols to coordinating Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions.

"He is extremely detail-oriented," said Christina Muzny, M.D., professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases. "His thoroughness limits the back-and-forth communication between investigators and the IRB regarding protocols. Brice makes this process seamless."

Daniels' impact extends beyond UAB. He works closely with external institutions to understand their regulatory requirements and strengthen cross-institutional collaboration.

"Brice is a terrific collaborator whose skillful leadership can steer units through stormy seas," said Jamie White, MBA, Deputy Research Administration in Infectious Diseases.

White recalled a collaboration with a partner institution whose regulatory processes differed from UAB's. To bridge those gaps, Daniels established a clear communication workflow that improved coordination and helped both teams navigate the review process more effectively.

"He built a productive and collaborative relationship with the organization's regulatory body, which has been critical to our work in the division," said White.

Daniels also shares his expertise by developing protocol training presentations focused on quality improvement and helping staff adopt practices that reduce errors and improve compliance. Beyond his technical expertise, he fosters a culture of teamwork by encouraging colleagues to work together to solve challenges that could affect the work environment.

"He doesn't just focus on his own role—he empowers others to take ownership of theirs," said Barbara Van Der Pol, Ph.D., professor in Infectious Diseases.

Thank you, Brice, for your dedication, collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence. We are proud to recognize you as the Summer 2026 recipient of DOM STAR Award for Staff Excellence.
