UAB IT is streamlining the emails you receive from our ticketing system when you report a phish.

When you report a phish via the Outlook report phish button, a ticket is created in UAB IT’s ticketing system. Now you will receive only two emails from the ticketing system in response, one letting you know we received your report, and one letting you know whether it was a phish or not. Simple graphics and text will make it easier for you to understand the type of email you reported, with links to more details about phish and spam.

In recent years, UAB IT has dramatically reduced the amount of time it takes to detect a phish and eliminate it from campus inboxes. User reports of phish are crucial to helping us find them and delete them.

“Reporting phish is critical to protecting our campus from these criminals. The sooner you report it, the faster we can act on it,” said Rob Ferrill, chief information security officer. “Streamlining these emails makes it easier for you to see the results of your report.”

Only phishing reports made using the Outlook report phish button will get the streamlined emails. Reports made by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. will receive the previous emails.
