To help educate campus on phishing threats, UAB IT Security has launched a hub for phishing activity.

The Phish Bowl is a place where UAB faculty, staff and students can see messages that have been reported as malicious across campus. Phishing emails often attempt to steal your UAB user credentials or lure you into fraudulent and exploitative transactions. You can visit the Phish Bowl at go.uab.edu/phishbowl.

“These messages are actual threats that have been reported to us on campus. Our goal is to educate our users on what a phish is, and how crafty these bad actors are when they try to impersonate others,” said Robby Ballard, an information security engineer.

UAB IT’s information security team works hard to protect UAB from malicious attacks. However, you are the first line of defense. If you receive a suspicious email, don't click on any links or provide any personal information. Report it to UAB IT by clicking the "Report Phish" button in Outlook or forward the potential phish to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. They'll investigate and report back to you, letting you know if it's safe or malicious.
