Kristin Boggs serves as Director of the Alabama Public Service Training Initiative since March 2025. Her career in community engagement and higher education began at The University of Alabama's Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility in 2005. She has been at UAB since 2007 serving in roles primarily focused on service learning, helping to found the Global and Community Leadership Honors Program in the Honors College (2007-2013) and later helping to start the UAB Heersink School of Medicine's Office of Service Learning (2015-2018). This role also included directing the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship of Alabama, including establishing it as a 501(c)3 and serving as its Executive Director (2015-2024).
Throughout her career, Kristin has worked to connect academic and civic learning. She enjoys mentoring students to help them discover their strengths and apply them within the community. And, more so, she enjoys guiding higher education institutions towards models of equal partnership with the community.
Kristin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Alabama.
