Ellie Pope is a third-year Political Science student with two minors in Economics and Chinese. As a Washington D.C. native, Ellie has a long-standing interest in national and international politics, with a particular focus on the United States justice system. Spending much of her youth in Alabama, though, allowed her to foster an appreciation of how local communities are the true arbiters of change. This perspective drives Ellie's commitment to empowering communities through research, advocacy, and service. Additionally, her experience in food security initiatives, community-based research, and local documentary storytelling has furthered her belief that meaningful change starts with listening to and uplifting those closest to the issues at hand. These efforts directly connect to her broader interest in human rights, especially in how structural inequalities shape lived experiences and how community-based solutions can promote justice.
