Human Rights Lab Graduate Assistants

Sushmita Mali is a PhD Student in Medical Sociology, in the department of Sociology at University of Alabama, Birmingham, with a focus on understanding health through sociological lens. She brings over a decade of experience spanning research, program implementation, and community engagement across non-profit, government, and academic sectors in Nepal, with background in qualitative research, public health interventions, community healthcare systems, and health workforce. Her research interests include gender and women’s health, mental health, migrant health, and environmental health. Driven by a commitment to health equity, her goal is to conduct interdisciplinary research, community-centered health policies that dismantle barriers to healthcare in Nepal and Low-and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
