Human Rights Lab Graduate Assistants

Mary O’Quinn is currently an MA student in the Anthropology of Peace and Human Rights program in the CAS system with a BA in Philosophy from UAB. Initially, studying social work at the University of Montevallo, he was awarded a Transfer of Excellence scholarship and pursued philosophy in the hopes to utilize it for social justice. She now currently works as a graduate teaching assistant at the IHR and in the Anthropology Department and is on the Junior Council Board of Intoto Creative Arts. His work focuses on social movement organizing in Birmingham. Particularly around the BDS movement within the Free Palestine organizing committed through Young Palestinians of Birmingham. She hopes to utilize her work and degree in both philosophy and human rights to push for better accessibility of organizing in both the non-profit sector and in practical grassroots movements.
