Human Rights Lab Graduate Assistants

Jayla Roper is a Birmingham native and graduate student currently pursuing an MA in Anthropology Peace & Human Rights at UAB. She previously earned a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from UAB, as well as an Associate in Science (AS) degree from Jefferson State Community College. Her research and efforts are community focused, with a particular interest in ways individuals navigate systems of power, inequality, and access. Her experiences include serving as a political canvasser where she engaged directly with residents on local concerns and civic participation as well as working with communities for equitable access to opportunities, resources, and support systems through volunteer and professional avenues.
