I am a PhD student in Dr. Liou Sun's lab at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where I study the mechanisms of aging and healthspan using the nematode model C. elegans. My interests are understanding how different biomarkers of aging regulate aging among individuals and sexes.
I am currently working with the insulin signaling receptor model daf-2 and determining longevity effects between males and hermaphrodites when this receptor is reduced in the insulin/IGF-1 signaling (IIS) pathway. I also have interest in both nutritional and temperature effects of aging as well. I received my Bachelor's and Masters degree from the University of South Alabama in Biology and researched various muscle mutants to determine assembly and development using the nematode model.
