The Cholera
Epidemic of 1873 in Birmingham Alabama
by
David Bishop
This paper is an account of a sad event in Birmingham's early history.
I researched and wrote it for HY 300 taught by Dr. Colin Davis. Due to
the limitations of the internet, I was unable to include the complete cited
work.
I posted this paper partially to experiment with the internet's limitations
on reproducing long text documents as well as to bring attention to this
great tragedy that our city founders faced and overcame. I give special
thanks to Dr. Charlotte Boorst of the
Reynolds Historical Library, The
Birmingham Public Archive, and The
Alabama Department of History and Archives. Without their assistance,
this paper would not have been possible.
