SOLUTION:
 
 

Click Start/Control-panel/network connections/wireless network connection                           Or you may have the yellow balloon to get the list of connections
Dbl-Click the wireless network connection.                                       You may see the yellow balloon. Click on it!
Click Properties
Hi-light uabwifi if it is already there and click Configure
If the SSID is blank enter  uabwifi the  Network Authentication should be Open  Data encryption is  WEP  Network Key is the wep key found at  www.uab.edu/wireless Click the Authentication tab and be sure IEEE 802.1x is NOT checked Click OK
You should now have a wifi connection, so now authenticate....
Open your browser and go to any website. this page should serve up first. Enter your BlazerID and password and then click login
When you are connected you will see this screen briefly and then be redirected to the website you initially clicked on.
To verify your wireless connection click Start/Control-panel/network connections/wireless network connection
Click the Support tab
You should see an IP Address starting with 164.111.x.x.
