Technical Note
Use your brain ;-)  "If It Sounds Too Good To Be True...It Probably Is"

PROBLEM:

I received an email that I believe is a fraud or scam to cheat people out of money.  What should I do?

A good example is the infamous Nigerian Money Offers

Nigerian e-mail victim indicted on 13 counts of wire fraud, idiocy: Among those poor souls who recently fell victim to the Nigerian e-mail scam mentioned was a 59-year-old bookkeeper for a small Michigan law firm who, hoping to expedite the transfer of the $18 million offered her by the scam's perpetrators, embezzled $2.1 million from her employer and wired it to bank accounts in South Africa and Taiwan. "It's unbelievable that she fell for this," FBI Special Agent James Hoppe, told The Detroit Free Press. "She was gullible -- gullible and had access to $2.1 million."

SOLUTION:

You can report the incident to one of many watch groups.

Click here if you don't know how to find the FULL HEADERS. INCLUDING A FULL SET OF E-MAIL HEADERS.

In order for us to track down the source of the abuse you received, we have to have the full set of headers, including all of the "Received:" lines which trace the path of the mail through the network. Without them, we cannot determine the actual origin point or time of transmission, and we cannot report it to the proper authorities or take action against the ABUSER.
