PROBLEM: How do I find my MAC Address?

The MAC Address is a unique identifier, assigned by a manufacturer, to an ethernet board such as a network interface card. It is your computer or printer's hardware (physical) address.

A MAC Address looks like this: 00-60-97-92-60-EX

SOLUTION:

Windows 95/98

  1. Open a DOS Window (Start -> Programs -> Command Prompt).
  2. Type the command:      winipcfg
  3. Write down your MAC address

Windows NT

  1. Open a DOS Window (Start -> Programs -> Command Prompt)
  2. Type the command:     ipconfig -all | more
  3. Write down your MAC address

Macintosh - Open Transport

  1. Open either the Appletalk or TCP/IP Control Panels
  2. Under the Edit Menu, select User Mode
  3. Change the mode to either Advanced or Admin
  4. Click the info button in the lower left corner of the window.
  5. A new window pops up - look about 1/3 of the way down for the MAC Address.
  6. Write down your MAC address
