PROBLEM: Message: I think User.Application Name is a big stupid Jerk

A computer virus has been sighted on computer systems at UAB. The virus is a Visual Basic Script. When activated it generates a message based on the user name for the system as follows ; "I Think Application.UsernName is a big stupid jerk" 0, ".VicodinES Loves You / Class.Poppy" This is just an annoying file and is non-destructive.

The file itself is only generated on the 14th of each month > 5 (May) and will replicate itself 4 times once activated. It attaches itself to the Normal.dot template in MS Office and will replicate 4 times for each use of this template. The normal.dot template is use by MS Word, WordPad, and MS Outlook. Once activated the program will generate a file called "Class.sys" which is placed in the Root Directory of your C: Drive.

SOLUTION:

Delete the Class.sys file, and Normal.dot templates. (Normal.*). Empty these files from the Recycle Bin. Restart the computer. When MS Office restarts it will automatically create a new Normal.dot template.

If you are using the Network Version of MS Office, you will have to do the same for the Normal.dot template associated with the Network Login Script.

The '98 version of McAfee OEM Version 3.1.6 with the latest .dat file update will detect this virus but will not clean it.
