PROBLEM:
How do I share a Macintosh with another Eudora user?
SOLUTION:
To allow multiple users to use Eudora on the same Macintosh:
- Configure Eudora for one user; it doesn't matter which user is the first one you set up.
- After you have configured the first user:
- Quit Eudora
- Drag
the Eudora Folder out of the System Folder to some other location on the hard disk. (It doesn't matter where).
- Use TeachText or another simple text editor to create an empty file named Eudora Folder.
(Eudora insists on having something with the name Eudora Folder sitting in the System Folder. Creating this "dummy" folder is necessary and revents another Eudora Folder from being created in the System Folder.
-
Create a separate folder for each user's e-mail: for example, Joe's Email.
Each folder can be named whatever you like and placed anywhere, including onto floppies or network volumes.
- Locate the file named
Eudora Settings. Make a copy and place one copy into each user's directory.
- Double click on each user's Eudora Settings icon; configure their e-mail settings. (You must do this now - remember, you copied the first user's settings to create this one and those settings will still be in place unless you change them).
Information about email settings can be found here.
