PROBLEM:
Running an NT network using TCP/IP only
To eliminate some needless network traffic ... SOLUTION: If there is some Netware traffic in your building, you might want to consider unbinding IPX / NWLink from your Microsoft Network Client, thus forcing your MS Network Clients to use TCP/IP . TCP/IP does less broadcasting (if you have WINS enabled on your server and WINS configured on all the workstations). On the Win95 workstations, you can disable this on the NWLINK protocol, Binding tab and on NT, you can disable NWLINK on the Binding tab, Server group. You can also remove Netbeui from most machines. | ||
