PROBLEM:
Password Authentication does not work in Netscape 4.X when accessing a Microsoft
Internet Web Server.
This problem occurs when the Microsoft Web Server uses proprietary authentication procedures, which are the default server settings. Thus, by default, only users with Explorer can log in to secured areas of the web server. SOLUTION: Turn on BASIC authentication on the web server, to avoid use of proprietary Microsoft authentication. | ||
