PROBLEM: People are receiving only part of the first line of my e-mail message

The e-mail "truncated first line problem" is usually caused by a mis-match of word-wrap settings. Word-wrap settings either:

  1. remove all carriage returns, so that your message is one long, continuous line of text, or
  2. forces a carriage return every X number of characters (X is usually around 70-80 characters).
If you are sending a message with word-wrap off, and the person receiving your message is using e-mail which does not put carriage returns back into the message to make it fit their viewing window, then all they will see is the first 80 characters of your message.

SOLUTION:

You will have to turn word-wrap on, or convince the person at the other end to use a different e-mail program. Here is a description of how to enable/disable word-wrap for Eudora
