PROBLEM:

How do I use Microsoft Explorer to upload files using FTP?

SOLUTION:

ftp://username@site.name.edu

Older IE clients do not support password prompting, so in order to FTP to a non-anonymous address (such as your personal web site), you must specify the URL in this format:

ftp://username:password@site.name.edu

Microsoft points out that this is not a secure means of logging in, and recommends that the FTP client included with Windows be used instead.

Open IE6

Click File/Open

enter:

ftp://yourblazerid@www.dpo.uab.edu

click ok.  Enter your password when prompted.

Dbl-Click the web folder.
Drag 'n Drop your files to the web folder.

You can right-click on the files for more options.

e.g. rename/delete etc.
