Start Pegasus Mail. (These instructions were created using Pegasus version 3)
Pull down the menu under the word "Addresses" and select the word LDAP

In the window named "LDAP Client", click on the word Setup

In the window named "LDAP Client Setup", click on the New button
|

In the window named "Directory Service Definition", enter the following information:
Title: UAB Electronic Phonebook (a)
Host Name: ldap.uab.edu (b)
Port: leave it at the default value of 389 (c)
Search Root: o=uab.edu (d) [ That's the letter "o" for "organization" ]
Make sure the radio button is set to Anonymous Connection (e)
Click the OK button.
UAB Hospital also has an LDAP server - repeat these instructions but
- Set the Title to UAB Hospital
- Set the Host Name to gw5.uabmc.edu
- Set the Search Root to o=uab

You should see the UAB Electronic Phonebook listed. If you have more than one directory service available, you can adjust the search order by highlighting the name and using the green arrow keys to move it up or down. In general, it is best to put any department or local directories first in the list.

To use:
type in the name you are searching for (a)
Push the Query button (b)
Review your results. (c) In this case, there were two people with the same last name. Highlight the one you are interested in, and their name will automatically be inserted as the recipient of your e-mail.
