Searching for Anne or Anna Marie Olive, (grandmother of Julie (Morford) Richardson) Anne married Ivan Lathrope Morford May 8, 1924 and had 4 children, Dale Brinton Morford, Winnie Morford, Lois Morford, and Dean Lathrope Morford. They divorced sometime after 1930. She moved back to Minnesota and remarried a man last named Christenson and adopted a young boy by the name of Tom. Anna was born in Minnesota on Dec. 28,1898 and died in Minnesota on Sept. 8,1961. Julie hopes to find her relatives. The only living child of Anna's and Ivan's will not give her any info on her grandmother. She needs to find out all she can about her. By the way she is Dale Brinton Morford's daughter. He spoke highly of his mother. He told Julie she is the one that named her. Dale’s mother always wanted to name a girl Julie Joanne. Since Anne she died a month before Julie was born her dad named her Julie Joanne as that is what mother wanted. He is looking for a connection with earlier family members? John Olive's son was Robert Marion Olive, Dale's grandfather. Dale says that he thinks that John was from south Georgia but I'm not sure. He is a college professor at Wilmington College, New Castle, Delaware.  He was  born in Cardiff, Wales in 1946, adopted by Charles Henry Olive and his  wife Linda, and raised in London. Charles Henry Olive was born in the  Lambeth area of London in 1902 and died in 1976. He was the youngest of  at least seven (maybe several more) children of William John Olive, a  salesman from Lambeth, London. Charles Henry Olive refused to speak about  his family, so absolutely any information on this UK branch of the Olive  family would be most welcome.

Doctor GILLES OlivePage in English - gilles.olive@excite.com - Gilles finished his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of Marseilles, France. Gilles did a Postdoc in Eindhoven in the Netherlands for 2 years. (Organic chemistry but in a polymerization lab) Gilles said to remember that he is from Marseilles France. He had added an English version of his page. Gilles was living in Belgium. In January of 2005 Gillies announced the birth of Gabriel born January 12, 2005. IAN Olive  - ian.olive@dial.pipex.com - Ian lives and works in Aberdeen,  Scotland.  He is a director of a large group of contracting companies predominantly servicing the offshore oil industry in the North Sea.  He my father died at the beginning of 1998 at the ripe old age of 91, his father's brother and sister are still doing well and heading for their 90th birthdays.  Ian says that "so far as I can ascertain, the family was originally based in London, but due largely to the disruption of the 1914-1918 war, links were lost and what had previously been quite a large family became Mother and three children only."  He says that he has just started work on a web site and will let us know when it is ready.

Ian recalls that "In 1914 part of my family left for Strasbourg, which tended to change hands between France and Germany until they got their act together, because some of them thought that the Kaiser would win.  Well he  didn't, but that part of the family stayed there after the war finished in 1918.  I noticed quite a number of Olives in the local phone book there, but that was many years ago.  I guess some of them are still there."

Ian says that "It is widely held here that the Olives in the British Isles originally came from Rome around 2000 years ago with the name Oliffe which got corrupted through use over the years to Olive,  They seemed to live around the city of Chester in North West England near Liverpool until the Romans left c.400 BC. Not much after that until the tenth century when they re-emerged from the dark ages of Europe.  Now they're everywhere!!"

Karyn (Olive) Duff - duff@spiderweb.com.au  - Karyn's aunt and her cousin have done a heap of work tracing their ancestors. They descend from a long line of Joseph Olives, hailing from Cornwall.  Joseph (son of a Joseph and there the trail goes a little cold) and Ann Olive arrived in South Australia in 1847, sailing from Plymouth - gradually working their way north before settling in Rockhampton, Central Queensland in the late 1850's, having 11 (I think) children along the way - 3 died.  The eldest, Joseph of course, was baptised in Tywardreath, Cornwall in 1844. The bulk of the family are still based around Rockhampton - a lot of cattle breeders, including Karyn's father Joseph. She has a B of Economics (got halfway through her Masters at the University of Queensland, gave it up and went overseas for two years). Her husband (thought about hyphenating their names, but that would have made her a "Duffed-Olive"). They have cattle as well - though they do a lot of other things besides - Quality Assurance, training.  They have just had their third child - 8 weeks ago. (Catherine, to go with her brother Mortimer and sister Josephine - now there's a surprise!)

Kenneth (KEN) Leroy Olive - RKOinVENT@aol.com - has been retired for three years from Pacific Telephone and then AT&T. He is now 53 years old and the son of Raymond Olive of Ontario, California, and grandson of Ray and Zoe Olive of Bayard, Iowa. He and his wife Ruth enjoy gold prospecting in the Northern California area. However he still contracts back to AT&T most of the time.

Kenneth (KEN) Paul Olive - kpo@MIT.EDU - is from Mahwah, New Jersey and graduated from Bucknell University.  He does cancer research here and is a brother of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. A descendant of John Olive, I was born July 23, 1976.  I am currently working towards my Ph. D. in molecular biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  My research focuses on a gene that helps prevent cancer.  I have a small home in Cambridge, MA, USA (all welcome) and enjoy sailing, Tae Kwon Do, reading, and SCUBA diving. Kelvin Olive - kwj@rocknet.net.au - For many years Kelvin has been researching his ancestors whom he knows came to Australia from Cornwall in 1847. His line is through Joseph, born 30 January 1820 & migrated to South Australia, in 1847
with wife Ann, sons Joseph, John and an unnamed child.  Kelvin send along a file that describes what he knws. Any one that his Olives in Australia during the period in question should email Kelvin. He says that he would appreciate any advice. He also says that the coat of Arms given as his family is the 3 mullets on the bar of a shield which is depicted on Colins website.

He has not really tried to research the family tree, but would like to do that some day. Mark's father told him that he had a half brother in New York State. His father was divorced and
the mother took the kid and they never heard anymore. If someone from New York has a father born in New York between 1920 and 1924, there is a chance that we are related.

Kings' County, Northern Ireland. He pursued a career in the metropolitan police force eventually reaching the rank of Deputy Commissioner.  He retired in 1925. To Mike's knowledge he had a son named Frederick James Olive(b.1888) and a sister who came to Australia.  Mike believes that F.J. Olive was in the merchant navy.  F.J. had a son named James William Olive b.1923 (Mike's father) in Sydney Australia. Mike is interested in making connections with family.

Holland WAYNE Olive -  hwolive@earthlink.net - Wayne Olive (Charlottesville VA) recently retired from the University of Virginia, where he was the Assistant Registrar and Systems Analyst.  Before that career, he served 20 years as an officer in the US Marines, and specialized in data processing management.   Wayne is tracking his ancestors back
down the Northern Neck of Virginia from Fredericksburg southeast towards the Chesapeake Bay, and currently determined that a great grandfather was from Richmond County VA.  From there, it may lead to one of the "old James Olive Sr's" brothers,  the sons of William Olive of England who came to Gloucester VA around 1696.  If anyone has information about the other brothers (William, Edward, or Alexander Olive) then contact him at hwolive@earthlink.net .
