page gives his family history, maps, statististics about Olives in UK and
USA. On his has page about
the Olive name he mentions a Richard Olive in
the Hundred Rolls - 1279. Now that is the earliest mention of the
Olive (by that spelling) that I have found.
Carolyn Fix Blount

Carole
Confar - confar@silcom.com - are
genealogists that are searching of Olives from Canada
and England. Carolyn is a community college professor, loves
to read, sew, hike, travel, garden, enjoy the grandkids and "do genealogy"
in spare time. My maternal grandmother was Harriott Scammell OLIVE, traced
back to William b 1753/54 of Chatham, Kent, ENG, the loyalist immigrant
who married 26 Apr 1780 the widow Catherine Beers Schmidt at Trinity Church,
Wall Street NY, and went to St. John NB Canada where the family were ship
builders for several generations. William is son of John Olive, b 1714
and Mary Dadd b 1730 of Chatham. The family is supposedly Huguenot from
France, but that's as far back as I've proved it! Carolyn Fix Blount, 2026
Tenth Avenue East, Seattle, WA, 98102. Carole Confar has less to say but
is not less interested in finding her Olives. Let them know if you have
Olives that might have come their way.

Michael L. Rankin
- mikerankin@pdq.net - Michael
says that his family believes Robert James OLIVE immigrated from England
about 1731. He was thought to be the son of Robert Oliviere who fled from
France (Huguenot) to England. A family history was developed in the early
1960's by Michael's my great grandmother (Hattie OLIVE) and a great aunt.
As you can see he is interested in his family history.

Caroline Louisa Olive (b.5.4.1863, d. 25.2.1942 in SA) married William

- Olives in Bristol, England
I have evidence that a certain Wm. H. Olive made a presentation to a George Smith in Bristol, 1888. This was to honour Smith for his services to Olive--presumably professional services of some sort. We think that Smith is a relative of my wife's (she and I are both English), but his name does not lend itself to genealogical research. We thought it would be more productive to look first for his employer, Olive.
Does anyone know of a Wm. H. Olive, active in Bristol around 1888? Please
e-mail me if you have any information.
Thanks, all....
